Are There Any Completly Free Dating Sites On The Internet?

Don’t get me wrong, its not because I don’t want to spend money, its because I’ve never done it before and I want to try it out before I invest more time and money into it.
Please only point me in the direction of sites that have no hidden costs to communicate with someone. I understand a lot of these sites do this. They let you sign up for free but you then have to become a paid member to be able to send a message or view someones details.
