What Are Some Good Social Network Sites To Meet New People On For Friendship/dating?

I don’t like paid dating sites – But I have tried Tagged and it is a mass meat market – I want something that is a little bit more up market and doesn’t attract people blatantly selling sex…Are there any social or free dating sites that are for professionals. I have also tried facebook and myspace but not impressed…

One I looked at recently was http://www.ukdating247.com and it gave full free access to all profiles. If you don’t like what you see, then you pay nothing. Worth a look if nothing else.
